I am far too lazy to do a full con report. Here, have some bullet points. Everyone loves bullet points, right?

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Dorking around with the [livejournal.com profile] campfuckudie crew was awesome in general. I love you guys. ♥ ... It occurs to me that I actually don't have most of the people who were there friended; I should probably fix that but I'm so shy about adding people.

- Actually being in a hotel room in the same city as the con I was going to for once was pretty awesome, even if the hotel was a 20-30 minute walk away.

- Got to see MELL live in concert! Man, I never realized how hot she was before. Anyway, it was a lot of fun. Also, I could swear one of the songs she sang had the line "it's the eye of the tiger" just... randomly thrown in there, but I may have been hearing things. I was practically falling asleep by that point (which says something about how tired I was, because the concert was — as concerts generally tend to be — extremely loud). Also, the last song was a slow ballad, and while most people were waving their cell phones, someone in the front row was waving a plastic lightsaber.

- Got Mary Elizabeth McGlynn's autograph, and got a couple pictures with her. She was really friendly and funny and nice — I think she made all the fans feel like she cared about them personally, even though that couldn't possibly be true. And I was way at the end of the line, so she'd signed a lot of autographs by that point — I'm impressed she wasn't just going "here, take your stupid signed piece of paper and get out of here" by that point.

- Made a lot of progress on Devil Survivor while waiting in lines.

- On Saturday evening I bought this really cute hat to cover my terrible con hair, and proceeded to wear it for the entire rest of the trip — and I mean that pretty literally. I mean, I wore it inside. And also in the hot tub. SHUT UP DON'T JUDGE ME it was a really cute hat, okay. :<

- Learned that tempura ice cream is delicious.

- Got a Sakura Wars artbook, a Serial Experiments Lain DVD (mostly because I'd been to the translation panel, which was basically all "man the localization industry is in terrible shape these days because no one buys anime," and I felt guilty), two Touhou remix CDs, and a poster of MELL.

- Went to giant Barnes & Noble with [livejournal.com profile] rhymed, [livejournal.com profile] levade, [livejournal.com profile] kitten_of_rain and [livejournal.com profile] tazeredtiger and found a book called SWORDBIRDS which is about birds! With swords! This is much funnier than it probably should be.

- Ended up not paying for parking because the lady at the reception desk was convinced that I already had. I think because I didn't get my ticket validated when I showed up, she thought our room only had one car, [livejournal.com profile] biztheinsane's, which Biz had of course paid for when she checked out. I actually feel kind of bad about this, and I did try pretty hard to explain the situation, but she just punched my parking ticket and sent me away, so...

LOWLIGHTS:

- Went to two different Marriotts before finding the right one. [livejournal.com profile] levade did too (in fact, it may have been the same two that I went to), so I feel a little better, but still.

- No one recognized me. My cosplay, that is; no one would have any reason to recognize me as a person — you know what I mean.

- Had the goddamn Chiu song from Negima stuck in my head half the weekend.

- Translation panel was not very encouraging.

- Spent over $100 in the dealers' room, sob.

- Completely failed to meet up with [livejournal.com profile] sammywhatammy.

- People kept getting sick — at least I didn't, but I still felt bad for the people who did.

Also, I got hit on by two truckers on my way home, a fact which bemuses me somewhat. I mean, I've heard about it happening, but it had never happened to me before and then I got it twice in one day. Weird.

Also also, [livejournal.com profile] tenshi_ryuu, I think I might have seen a couple of your friends in the Dealers' Room — I saw someone selling those Organization 13 sports team shirts, anyway. I almost went up and asked if they knew you, but I thought that might be creepy.

On the whole, I really enjoyed it — I wasn't really that excited about it beforehand because after the Japan trip I was a little burnt out on anime/manga/etc., but it was definitely worth going.
